The deal between you and StratoReading, in plain words. If any of it reads as though it were written to be skipped, tell us and we will rewrite it.
This is a first draft written by the people building StratoReading. It has been reviewed by the owner and it has NOT been reviewed by a lawyer. One clause above is deliberately unfinished and says so. That is a decision about this stage rather than an oversight, and it will change before the product is sold widely.

Who can open an account
An adult, acting as the parent or legal guardian of the children on the account. A child does not open an account and does not agree to anything.
You are telling us, by opening an account, that you are that adult for every child you add.
What we are promising to do
Give your child passages to read at a level that suits them, mark what they write against real teaching rubrics, and show both of you why it scored what it scored.
Move the difficulty as your child improves, on the evidence of what they have actually written, not on their school year.
Keep what your child writes private, and hand it back or delete it whenever you ask.
What we are not promising
That the marking is always right. It is a machine reading a child's sentence, and it is wrong sometimes. That is why every mark shows its reasons and points at the words it is talking about, so you can see the reasoning and disagree with it.
That this replaces a teacher, a reading tutor, or a proper assessment. It does not diagnose anything. If you are worried about your child's reading, talk to their school.
That the product will never change. It is being built, and it will change.
What we ask of you
Use it for your own family. Do not share your account with other households, and do not use it to run a class or a business without asking us first.
Do not try to break it, scrape it, or copy the passages out of it. The passages, the questions and the marking are ours.
What your child writes is your child's. We do not claim to own it. We keep and use it only as the privacy policy describes.
Money
Nothing is being charged today. When there is a price, it will be on the pricing page before you are asked to pay it, and you will be told before anything is taken.
You will be able to cancel without writing to anybody.
Ending it
You can close your account whenever you like, and closing it deletes your children's data.
We can close an account that is being used to harm somebody, or to attack the service. We will say why.
If something goes wrong
Write to the address on the contact page first. Most things are a misunderstanding and get fixed the same week.
These terms are governed by the law of the place StratoReading is operated from, and the owner will name that jurisdiction here before the product is sold widely.
